In Personal Injury Cases – When do You Need a Lawyer?

13 Oct Posted by Kent.Burnham

How do you know when you need a lawyer in a personal injury case?

1. Limitation Date is Approaching
For personal injury claims, the limitation is two years. In other words, you must sue within two years of the date of the accident or you will lose the right to do so.

Don’t wait until the last minute. There is often information that we will need to gather in order to properly protect your interest and it may not be readily available. For instance, you may know who the other driver is, but not all the owners. Often vehicles are partially owned by lease or finance companies and we need to sue them as owners as well as the driver.

Three months prior to your limitation date should be the latest you wait before getting help, but the sooner you come in, the better.

2. ICBC Ceases to Provide Benefits
This is often a sign that ICBC has made up their mind as to what your claim is worth and it may not be enough. Further, you may not be getting the benefits to which you are entitled. Call us and we will be able to help you understand your rights.

3. Lack of Confidence
You just don’t trust the process and want a professional to assist you. We are experts and do this all the time. We know the rules and can ensure you get a fair settlement.

4. Stress
You have enough on your plate trying to recover and keep up with the rest of your life. Dealing with ICBC is stressing you out or you are made to feel like a criminal. Call us. We will take over all communications, information gathering, keep you informed and see that your rights are protected.

Most importantly, don’t wait too long.
